A few months back if anyone would have asked me to bet my entire world on the fact that “one day no mode of transportation would be running and people won’t step out of their houses” I would have done it in a blink of an eye! How was this even imaginable.

And yet here we are! Sitting inside our houses, Connecting with people, families or loved ones over the internet. It all came to a halt. COVID-19. Yes, the world is fighting against the pandemic named Coronavirus disease-2019. Nothing less than a wildfire happening in the human world.

But, HEY! LOOK AT THE POSITIVE SIDE! You are locked inside your house with people you desire to be with, Just them and you! either they are right next to you, or just a video call away. This disease is a chain reaction and one person is more than enough to break it right there and then. So, we are advised/requested and now being legally told to stay inside and maintain social distancing. And as far as I can think of each one of us at one point or another wanted some family time, some alone time, some relaxed routine or maybe some detox time from the hectic schedule.

GUESS WHAT! Nature listened to it and it finally gave you some time for yourself while it gained some for itself. As all of us are currently in curfew or lockdown, I thought of sharing few things that I thought of doing while I am still in this lockdown state and use this completely in my benefit to build a new lifestyle and make it a major breakthrough to the managed, happy and efficient life.

So, Let’s get started!

#1 Decluttering

Start with clearing your mess, which you always thought of doing but couldn’t. This decluttering might be your wardrobe’s, your work desk, your files, your digital device’s space or your living place. Everyone loves a clean and tidy place, use this time to remove unwanted clothes/shoes/bags. Put them into different packs, enuring which needs to be donated, which can be kept aside as you are not currently using it, and so on.

Similarly, a very common thing is with our digital devices, it may be your phone, iCloud, drives, google photos, hard drives, etc. we generally ignore those warning popups saying “Storage almost full”. Perfect timing for the same! let’s do this now.

#2 Self-Care

As rightly said by Oscar Wilde — “To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance. ”

Use this time for yourself, on yourself. All those morning self-care routines, night self-care routines, self-hygiene, those little habits you always wanted to start with. This is the right time for it. do it now. start it now. practicing something continuously for 21 days make it your habit. This is the perfect time to create your habits.

#3 Excercise

Don’t become a couch potato. These self-quarantine days can get lazy too. If you have been exercising, don’t let this break stop you, go for home workouts, bodyweight workouts or even staircase workouts are great for the home. In case, you are the ones who were looking out to start exercising or start gyming but were not able to do so for any reason, this is your time. Wakeup and start with a simple short duration workout for beginners. I have linked a few below. This is the perfect time to prepare your mind and body for the gym.

#4 Budgeting

YES! This one is my personal favorite agenda to achieve. Whether you are a saver or a prodigal. Budgeting is important. One very important thing to be kept in mind is your income and your choices where you want to spend. few people love to spend their money on going out, eating at fancy places, whereas, few love to spend on shopping, salons, etc. That is a personal choice. Take this time to judge what you enjoy the most and where are you spending recklessly. For example, in my case, I love shopping so I am currently making my budget in such a way that I don’t go crazy shopping and I save my money on the places required. I have listed down a few apps that might help to maintain your daily and monthly expense chart.

  • BillGuard
  • Daily Money (my personal favorite)
  • DollarBird

#5 Hobby

Not all of us are active on the professional platform as in our daily hectic schedule whenever we have some spare time we tend to scroll through Instagram, Facebook or just be active on our messaging apps. This is a great time to enhance your professional circle, to write down your proper resume, find and interact with people of your professional domain or maybe any domain that inspires you or teach you something new. This will not only make you more regular on such platforms but will also build new professional relationships.

#7 Learn a new skill

Scrolling through the internet, I came across a post that said – “If you come out of this quarantine without learning something new, you were not lacking time you were lacking discipline”. You have all the required time and your internet resources to learn a new skill or brush up an existing one. Use this time to do it.

#8 Yoga from Home

Mental health is equally important. These homebound days can sometimes make you feel locked or repetitive. Yoga/Meditation plays a vital role here. It will not only enhance your mood but will also help you with your focusing power. And why not? If it is something new for you let’s just try and make it a habit. And if not a habit, something you could practice once in a while for a peaceful and healthy mind.

I don’t need to describe the benefits of waking up early as we all know it. These days might help you transform into a morning person easily and slowly. So why not! If you walk out of quarantine as a morning person, you know you achieved a great goal!

Or maybe some long lost friends you always thought of contacting back. Here you got your chance! Pick up your phone message them, call them or even better in this quarantine video call them! You know they’ll love it and so will you.

Staying home isn't tough, we have so many people around us who completely work from home on a regular basis. We are lucky to have shelter to stay, food to eat and time and resources to make this self-quarantine productive. Let’s come together to fight this pandemic and win this battle.

Social distancing is the only way to break this chain as we clearly know “Precaution is better than Cure.” Let’s enjoy this time use it completely in our favor. jump onto things you have been aiming or planning to do for so long but couldn’t give it enough time.

I hope you find a few of these ideas useful and beneficial to you.

It’s a tough phase that the whole world is going through. I hope you are reading this sitting back home, safe and sound. Social distancing is our way of killing this pandemic. We are fighting together with this situation of COVID-19 and we will get through this. We are in it together. Stay Safe! Stay Inside!
