A thought that changed my life!

Too strong of a heading, but it is the truth.

We scroll through social media platforms and come across a lot of quotes, thoughts, positive posts that we read, feel good about them, and then forget them in a day or so or sometimes in few hours! Being honest I did the same until a few months back when I realized that my Instagram saved section was full of quotes from different pages, some positive quotes, some motivational, some funny yet life-saving. But, then I realized that I read them and forget about them. What about the part where I incorporate them into my lifestyle?

Yes! it is not enough to read about good habits, thoughts, or lifestyle changes, It is about actually using them to make yourself a better person inside out!

THOUGHT :

“People remember you by the way you make them feel.”

How it changed my behavior towards people?

Ok! So here is my little share of blabbering! I’ll start with a realization that hit me hard. What is the best thing you remember about someone? Think hard. I am sure what you have recalled is not anything materialistic or any favor, It will always be something they SAID to you or something they did that made you FEEL good.

And that is the key point here! for instance, It’s your first day at the job, and you are enrolled in a team, Now suppose out of that team one person comes up to you, gives you a welcome gift and be nice to you for that interaction part and then be on their own. On the same day, Another person takes you for lunch/Coffee to the cafeteria knowing it’s your first day at work and introduce you to other people in the team/office. Now ask yourself what did you like better. For sure that will be the second teammate! because he/she left a “Feel good” impression on you.

Being on a socially active lifestyle nowadays makes us believe that is absolutely okay to pass comments as sarcasm on people or laugh out at their choices or to make fun of people in general, or even worst MAKE THEM FEEL NOT SO GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES. Trust me, making someone feel that they are not good enough is the worst thing you could do to anyone! We are in a world where people are already running a rat race, exhausting themselves to prove that they are worth it, they are good enough. Ask yourself do you want to add to their negative thoughts or do you want to leave a positive ray of joy.

The best and the easiest way to do this is “HEAR WHAT YOU SAY.” Just listen to what you were about to say to someone in your own head, if it sounds worth speaking, SAY IT, if not CHANGE.

As a human being, it is very okay and very natural to get jealous, get anxious, get thoughts of competition from one another. But, what’s necessary is to suppress it. With time to train your mind and heart to be happy for others and to be content with yourself! and the first start to that is to make others feel good about themselves and about you.

Try changing “Oh wow! you are doing great, look at me sitting here doing nothing” to “Wow great work! you’re inspiring me too.” If you look carefully conversation in the first sentence is less about the other person and more about you. These are small changes but these positive changes and positive outlooks towards life make your life more lovable. Whereas in the second line, you are appreciating them, making them feel good about them, and then learning something for yourself too.

FEW POINTERS TO FEEL GOOD EVERYDAY

  • Soak in sunrise and sunset. (even if it is for 10 minutes)
  • Think before you speak.
  • Do 1 hobby that makes you happy. (Cycling/gym/dance/sing or anything)
  • Listen to a podcast/motivational video. (even if it is just for 2 minutes)
  • Every day Write 5 things that you are grateful for!
  • Make your own Tea/Coffee always.
  • NEVER EAT YOUR MEALS ON YOUR BED.
  • EXERCISE (even if it is for 20 minutes)
  • When in anger, count till 10. If you still feel like saying what you were about to say before counting, then speak.
  • Smile at EVERYONE.
  • Be empathetic towards people. (just imagine yourself in that spot)
