Before sharing the lifestyle changes that not only helped me change my physical well-being but also my mental well-being, One thing I would like to say is we are witnessing a lot around us. If you are safe and sound and HAPPY you are already doing great. Don’t rush into a spiral of doing everything, achieving everything in one go. Always remember “Success is steady progress”. That being said, This Work from home culture or in general being home for the maximum time and feeling overly comfortable in doing nothing is COMMON and is happening with everyone. Overtime after reading multiple articles, binge-watching YouTube channels, trying multiple step guide and what not. I could come down to these 5 habits that made me a productive person.

Habits and ways to make yourself productive is totally subjective. In case you have some amazing habits that people can add to their routines to make themselves a happy productive being, Do comment below. So, Let’s get started with this….

Make your bed

I cannot, I just cannot emphasize this enough. this seems like the most irrelevant and most blah kind of a habit. But trust me it isn’t. Making your bed first thing in the morning. Just start doing it and you feel the difference on your own. It not only gives you a push start, but it makes sure you start your day on a productive note. Also, it makes sure you don’t crash back to sleep. If my words aren’t convincing enough, check this out.

Starting by a good habit not only gives you a sense of pride but also a sense of goodness. as if you are going to do better things today, you are doing to be productive today.

To-Do List

ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL. This habit is like an outer shell of good habits inside and an instant push to achieve them. Creating a TODO list right in the morning gives a goal to accomplish, forces you to think of being productive and achieving what you have written down. One tip, I would like to give is to start slow, don’t go for a 10 pointer list or a 20 pointer list. Start with the most important 5 points that you can manage in a day. It is a slow process. With time you will understand what works best for you. How much time can you manage? and try and put pointers managing your time. not something unrealistic or exhausting, Because then it will not be a habit, it will be just a 10 day thing and after that, you will lose interest in it. What I generally do is make it a point to not exceed 6 pointers a day, and arrange them in a way that if there is something that I might do if I have time, I put it under the “WILL SEE” section. so suppose if I know I am very much occupied today and I will not be able to go grocery shopping today. So I put it under a section where it is not a MUST DO kind of a to-do for today. If I able to do it, it will be a achievement for me, If not it’s okay, I can put it in TODO for next day. SIMPLE.

Workout

Do I even need to explain this one? :D

IT SIMPLY TRANSFORM NOT ONLY YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH BUT YOUR MENTAL HEALTH. 5 Days a week with 30–40 mins of workout, be it any workout that you like, walking, running, sports you like, gym anything that you enjoy. If you are a beginner, start small. Start with a 20 min workout, slowly build it up.

If you are someone who lacks the motivation to get up and workout daily. let me give you a simple 10 min rule. TELL YOURSELF YOU WILL ONLY DO IT FOR 10 MINUTES. Tell yourself it’s a 10 min thing and then you can rest or do whatever you like. trust me once you are in your gym wear and you have survived 10 mins, there is no going back. You will yourself feel motivated to continue and finish your 30–40 min routine and this actually works! (Another tip that works wonders on me is getting ready in gym wear even if I am working out at home. It is an instant energy booster for me.)

Cook for yourself

Cook for yourself. Try and cook your meals on your own. Firstly you will be more cautious of stuff you put into your body and the portion you consume. It gives you a small sense of achievement about how you are surviving your day and feel best about yourself. ALSO, IT IS ABSOLUTELY OKAY TO EAT FROM OUTSIDE, OR SOME CHEAT MEALS ONCE IN A WHILE. Everything in limit is absolutely okay. If you are someone who hates to cook or has no idea about cooking start with your morning tea/Coffee, your snacks or, mall meals on weekends.

Journaling

The last and the perfect end of the day kind of a habit. No matter whether you are someone who overshares or doesn’t share about themselves at all, this habit will change your perspective, your view and, your self-realization game. START JOURNALING. Try and write down stuff as if you are talking to your best friend. Be honest and be truthful to yourself.

One common mistake people do while journaling is writing stuff considering someone might see it someday. You have defeated the purpose of journaling there and then. Your journal has to be your personal space, your personal friend to whom you are dictating your complete day as per your view. No sugar-coating, no bluffs NOTHING.

Start with what you felt? Why did you feel that way? what you could have done instead? what you left unsaid? These things will not only make your perspective about life change but will also make you mindful about what you are doing and how you are doing. There is only one rule to journaling, BE HONEST TO YOUR JOURNAL. This article that I attached below is the main reason why I inculcated journaling as my habit to be productive.
